WaFd Bank to Facilitate Merchant-Funded Micro-Donations Nationwide with 200-Branch Network
WaFd Bank has been named the exclusive banking partner for the Network of Giving Foundation, processing merchant-funded micro-contributions through its secure infrastructure. The collaboration scales from a Seattle pilot supporting four nonprofits to a national rollout leveraging WaFd’s 200-branch network across nine states.
1. Partnership Overview
WaFd Bank has been appointed the official banking partner for the Network of Giving Foundation, becoming the first financial institution to integrate with its purpose-driven digital commerce ecosystem. Under this agreement, WaFd will manage secure collection, settlement and distribution of merchant-funded micro-contributions generated when consumers shop with linked credit or debit cards.
2. Platform Functionality
The Network of Giving platform enables consumers to link any bank card and automatically trigger merchant-funded micro-donations at no cost to the shopper. All contributions are 100% directed by consumers, audited for full accountability, and settled through WaFd’s financial systems.
3. Initial Pilot and Expansion
The program launched in Seattle supporting Special Olympics Washington, Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington, Northwest Harvest and United Way of King County. With WaFd’s nationwide role, the platform is positioned to extend beyond Seattle into additional communities across its nine-state, 200-branch footprint.
4. Impact on WaFd
By embedding philanthropy into everyday transactions, WaFd aims to strengthen community ties, drive incremental fee income and boost digital engagement. This partnership underscores WaFd’s commitment to community service while potentially increasing transaction volumes and deposits through enhanced customer loyalty.
