Wall St set for higher open as tech gains offset bond-market jitters
SPY•U.S. stock futures pointed to a higher open, with the Dow up 0.19%, the S&P 500 up 0.23% and the Nasdaq 100 up 0.38%. The 10-year Treasury yield reached 5.3423%, its highest level since 2002.
1. Stocks poised to rise
Wall Street’s main indexes were set to open higher on Thursday, supported by gains in chip and consulting stocks despite rising Treasury yields. Micron’s better-than-expected revenue forecast and $32 billion in customer commitments under supply agreements reinforced enthusiasm for the AI trade.
2. Yields reach a high
The 10-year Treasury yield hit 5.3423%, its highest since 2002, as inflation and government borrowing concerns weighed on bonds. The Cboe VIX rose to a two-week high of 16.39. Accenture gained 17.7% after forecasting full-year revenue growth above estimates, while Alphabet advanced 1.6% after announcing its Gemini 4 AI model.
3. Other company moves
Constellation Energy rose 2.5% after signing a 20-year power purchase agreement with Amazon. Rocket Lab gained 4.3% after securing a 20-launch commercial contract with Synspective.
