Wall Street climbs as investors buy AI stocks; Microsoft rallies

1. AI stocks lift markets
Wall Street climbed on Friday, lifted by Microsoft and other AI-related technology stocks. Microsoft rose 3.3% after unveiling new Copilot capabilities, including a coding tool and an always-on AI agent. Qualcomm gained 5.4% and Dell advanced 6.6%.
2. Indexes and sectors
The S&P 500 rose 0.45% to 7,738.67, the Nasdaq gained 0.50% to 27,073.90 and the Dow added 0.78% to 51,747.99. Seven of the 11 S&P 500 sector indexes rose, led by information technology, up 1.06%.
3. Yields and oil weigh
High oil prices and a recent surge in Treasury yields kept investors on edge. Brent crude remained above $100 a barrel, and the 10-year Treasury yield was last up 3.4 basis points at 5.196%, after reaching a fresh 19-year high.
