Wall Street dips after strong jobs data fuels hawkish Fed bets

The Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI fell 292.47 points, or 0.54%, to 53,393.64, the S&P 500 .SPX lost 39.01 points, or 0.50%, to 7,708.70 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC lost 135.14 points, or 0.51%, to 26,448.92.
Among the 11 major S&P 500 sectors, consumer discretionary .SPRLCD stocks were down the most, while the industrial sector .SPLRCI, the sole gainer, held on to nominal gains.
Semiconductors .SOX were clear outperformers, gaining 2.7%, but remain down more than 18% this quarter. Software and services .SPLRCIS having gained 24% over the same period, were clear laggards, dropping 2.0%.
The two indexes seem to be locked in see-saw mode, in a pattern that "seems to persist almost on a daily basis and today is no exception," Dickson said.
