Wall Street down, led by consumer discretionary
SPY•Wall Street lower at midday
Major U.S. stock indexes are lower in midday trading on Wednesday, with consumer discretionary .SPLRCD leading declines among S&P 500 .SPX sectors and investors anxiously awaiting quarterly results from Nvidia NVDA.O after the closing bell.
Shares of Nvidia, down 1.3%, are the biggest drag on the S&P 500 .SPX and Nasdaq .IXIC.
Even though it's been a much stronger-than-expected second-quarter earnings season, worries remain for some investors about the sustainability of the AI boom.
Amazon AMZN.O is down 1% and is the biggest weight on the consumer discretionary index.
Also lower are shares of software company Salesforce CRM.N, which too is due to report after the close.
