WEC• WEPCO signs long-term Point Beach power purchase agreement
- WEC Energy unit WEPCO signed a 20-year PPA with NextEra’s Point Beach entity for 86% of Units 1 and 2 output.
- Unit 1 term runs Oct. 6, 2030 to Oct. 5, 2050; Unit 2 runs March 9, 2033 to March 8, 2053.
- Agreement requires Wisconsin PSC approval; either party can terminate if approval is not secured by Jan. 1, 2028.
- Termination deadline extends automatically to July 1, 2028 if approval remains attainable and WEPCO pursues it in good faith.
- Filing expects customer savings versus the existing Point Beach PPA, which expires in 2030 for Unit 1 and 2033 for Unit 2.
