WeRide and Geely Farizon will deliver 2,000 purpose-built Robotaxi GXRs by 2026, boosting WeRide’s global fleet to over 2,600 vehicles this year. The new GXR, equipped with GEN8 system featuring 17× LiDAR resolution and 600m range, cuts assembly time by over 83% and lowers costs by 15%.

1. Expanded Strategic Cooperation

WeRide signed an expanded strategic cooperation with Geely’s Farizon to deliver 2,000 purpose-built Robotaxi GXRs by 2026, marking a shift from product-level partnership to an integrated ecosystem for global commercialization across China, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Europe.

2. Production Targets and Fleet Growth

The two companies plan to begin GXR production in Q3 2026; combined with the 1,023-vehicle fleet as of January, deliveries will boost WeRide’s active Robotaxi count above 2,600 this year, advancing toward its vision of tens of thousands of vehicles by 2030.

3. GEN8 Autonomous Driving Enhancements

The Robotaxi GXR features WeRide’s GEN8 system with Sensor Suite 8.0, including a thousand-line LiDAR that increases point-cloud resolution by 17 times and extends detection range to 600 meters, providing over 70% more reaction time and stable all-weather performance.

4. Mass Production Efficiency and Cost Cuts

Leveraging Farizon’s AI-enabled drive-by-wire chassis and mature supply chain, GXR assembly time falls from one hour to under ten minutes, accelerating output and reducing per-vehicle costs by 15% through ongoing cost-innovation efforts.
