WeRide Rolls Out Right-Hand-Drive GXR Robotaxi in Hong Kong With 2,600-Vehicle Target
WRD•WeRide partnered with Geely Farizon and Kwoon Chung to mass-produce a GXR Robotaxi for right-hand-drive markets, unveiled at the 2026 International Automotive & Supply Chain Expo in Hong Kong. Commercial services start in Hong Kong with plans to reach Singapore, the UK, Japan and Australia, targeting 2,600 vehicles by end-2026.
1. Partnership Launches Right-Hand-Drive Robotaxi
WeRide has joined forces with Geely Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group and Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings to co-develop a purpose-built, mass-produced GXR Robotaxi tailored for right-hand-drive markets. The model integrates autonomous driving perception, decision-making and control systems on an existing production-ready platform and was officially unveiled at the 2026 International Automotive & Supply Chain Expo in Hong Kong.
2. Hong Kong Debut and Expansion Roadmap
Commercial right-hand-drive Robotaxi services will begin operating in Hong Kong, leveraging its international transport ecosystem and supportive regulations. Following initial validation and testing, the partners plan phased rollouts in Singapore, the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia, using the Hong Kong deployment as a scalable blueprint for other markets.
3. Production Scale and Fleet Targets
The GXR Robotaxi will be produced at scale through the strategic partnership, enabling WeRide to support both right- and left-hand-drive systems. The company aims to grow its global Robotaxi fleet to 2,600 vehicles by the end of 2026 and scale to tens of thousands by 2030, accelerating its autonomous mobility commercialization efforts worldwide.
