WeRide Secures Slovak Government Support for Level 4 Robotaxi Launch in June
WRD•WeRide announced plans to commercialize its Level 4 autonomous vehicle portfolio in Slovakia with the first batch of Robotaxi GXR vehicles arriving this month in Bratislava. Prime Minister Fico pledged full government support for multi-scenario deployments across public transit, logistics, and municipal sanitation pending EU regulatory approval.
1. Meeting with Slovak Officials
WeRide executives met with Prime Minister Robert Fico, Transport Minister Jozef Ráž and senior ministry officials in Bratislava to discuss commercialization of Level 4 autonomous vehicles. The Slovak government committed to collaborate on regulatory frameworks and infrastructure support for pilot operations.
2. Level 4 Deployment Roadmap
The first Robotaxi GXR vehicles will arrive in Slovakia this month for testing in Bratislava, followed by Košice and the High Tatras region. Planned deployments span smart mobility, public transportation, logistics and municipal sanitation services, with public commercial operations targeted for 2026.
3. European Expansion and Use Cases
This Slovak initiative builds on WeRide’s existing projects in France, Spain, Switzerland and Belgium across Robotaxi and Robobus services. The multi-product strategy aims to accelerate Level 4 adoption by addressing diverse transportation scenarios under unified regulatory standards.
