What to think about in Q4
SPY•Q4 may bring continued geopolitical tensions, AI-related volatility and EU-China trade tensions, strategist Michael Every said. He noted these issues could affect bond markets, growth, rate expectations and equities.
1. Risks to watch
Michael Every, global strategist at Rabobank, said Q4 could bring continued geopolitical risks, including concerns about the Middle East, Ethiopia and the Russia-Ukraine war. He also pointed to the approaching U.S. midterms and a broader trend toward left- and right-wing populism.
2. AI and trade tensions
Every said AI enthusiasm has broadly supported equities while adding volatility, and flagged safety discussions and regulatory hurdles. He also said EU-China trade tensions could increase in Q4, putting sectors including autos, spirits and some foods under pressure.
