The recognition resulted from a comprehensive study of over 10,000 U.S. companies, including a nationwide survey of 22,000 Americans, desk research on disaster relief contributions, and weighted input from active and former military respondents. An overall score based on ethical conduct, community support, and perceived patriotism determined the top 450 companies.
