Yann LeCun’s AMI Labs Raises $1.03B to Build AI World Models

AMI Labs, co-founded by ex-Meta AI chief Yann LeCun, raised $1.03 billion on a $3.5 billion pre-money valuation to develop AI world models. The French lab aims first commercial application in digital health via partner Nabla, with backing from Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, Bezos Expeditions and others.

AMI Labs focuses on developing AI “world models” building on the Joint Embedding Predictive Architecture to learn from real-world data, aiming to overcome limitations of large language models prone to hallucinations.

Co-founded by Turing Prize winner Yann LeCun and led by CEO Alexandre LeBrun, the team includes Meta’s former VP for Europe Laurent Solly and research leads Saining Xie, Pascale Fung and Michael Rabbat.

4. Applications and Timeline

Initial commercial application is planned in digital healthcare with startup partner Nabla, but AMI Labs warns that full deployment of world models could take years due to foundational research challenges.
