Yemen's Houthis say they hit Saudi Ras Tanura oil refinery with missile
USO•Yemen's Houthis said they hit Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura refinery with a ballistic missile, causing a fire; Saudi authorities did not immediately confirm the strike. The refinery has capacity of 550,000 barrels per day.
1. Refinery strike claim
The Houthis said they hit Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura oil refinery with a ballistic missile. Their military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, said the strike caused a fire at the complex, which includes a shipping terminal. Saudi authorities did not immediately confirm the strike.
2. Oil export route
Ras Tanura has capacity of 550,000 barrels per day and was shut for a period in the early months of the Iran war as a precaution. Nearly all Saudi oil exports flow through Ras Tanura and Yanbu, both of which the Houthis have attacked in the past. A fire near Ras Tanura's terminal was reportedly contained.
3. Other reported attacks
The Houthis also said they attacked two military transport jets and an airbase in Saudi Arabia, and repelled an advance near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Saudi authorities did not immediately confirm the air attack claims. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched toward Riyadh.
