BKNG•Survey of 2,500 U.S. adults shows 79% plan a summer trip, 73% cutting other expenses, and 50% planning to use AI tools, while 84% report paying more for travel despite higher costs. Booking Holdings rolled out its next-generation AI assistant Penny to streamline deal hunting and bookings.

A survey of 2,500 U.S. adults finds 79% planning at least one summer trip and 68% saying summer isn’t complete without a vacation, with four-day-plus trips rising across all income brackets this year.
2. Rising Costs Drive Expense Trade-offs
With 84% reporting they pay more and 55% finding travel less affordable, 73% of consumers are cutting everyday expenses—alcohol (83%), dining out (45%) and even personal activities (20%)—to fund their summer getaways.
3. Next-Gen Penny AI Assistant Launch
Booking Holdings has introduced the next-generation Penny AI assistant on Priceline to tackle deal hunting fatigue, streamline hotel and flight comparisons, and potentially boost conversion rates and average booking values.
