Air Products to Build Florida ASU by 2028 for Space Launch, Regional Markets

APDAPD

Air Products will build and operate a new air separation unit in Cocoa, Florida, producing liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon starting in H2 2028. The plant will support space launch providers and supply regional metals processing, medical and chemical markets while enhancing Florida coverage beyond its Orlando facility.

1. Project Overview

Air Products plans to build, own and operate a new air separation unit in Cocoa, Florida. The facility will produce liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen and liquid argon and is targeted to start operations in the second half of 2028.

2. Strategic Market Support

The Cocoa ASU is designed to meet growing demand from space launch providers in Florida by supplying essential oxidizers and inert gases. It will also serve regional metals processing, medical and chemical industries through merchant distribution.

3. Regional Expansion

This project augments Air Products’ existing Orlando ASU, marking over three decades of operations in the state. With approximately 70 ASUs already operating across the U.S., the new unit further extends the company’s industrial gas footprint in a key growth market.
