Alphabet Pursues $17B AI Cooling Market, Secures 2.7GW Michigan Energy
Alphabet is negotiating with Envicool and other Chinese firms to procure liquid cooling systems as AI server cooling revenue climbs toward $17 billion in 2026. It also secured 2.7 GW of data center power in Michigan, including 1.6 GW solar, 450 MW storage and 350 MW demand response.
1. Cooling Infrastructure Expansion
Alphabet has accelerated procurement of liquid cooling technologies to support high-density AI workloads that generate significantly more heat than traditional servers. Negotiations with Shenzhen-based Envicool and other Chinese suppliers aim to secure scalable thermal management solutions ahead of an expected $17 billion global market for AI server cooling by 2026.
2. Clean Energy Power Procurement
The company finalized a 2.7 GW power agreement in Michigan, backing a new data center with 1.6 GW of solar capacity, 450 MW of four-hour storage, and 350 MW of demand-response resources. This framework under the Clean Transition Tariff ensures targeted deployment of renewables and storage while providing grid flexibility.

By combining advanced cooling partnerships with sizable clean energy commitments, Alphabet is fortifying its data center backbone for AI scale-up.
