Amazon outlined a €10 billion commitment to expand and upgrade its European fulfillment network, unveiling the next-generation Proteus robot capable of full-facility navigation and conversational AI control to move heavy carts. The program also includes wider rollouts of Vulcan tactile robots, STARK tote-handling systems at 15 sites by 2027, over 25 new sub-same-day hubs in 2025, and plans to add 25,000 employees.
2. Canadian Streaming Levy Suspension
Canada’s government dropped proposed levies under the Online Streaming Act that would have required services like Amazon Prime Video to invest billions in local television production. The decision removes a major compliance cost for Prime Video and preserves its focus on existing content distribution and rapid-delivery service expansions.
