AMZN•Amazon will invest $10 billion to build a Montgomery County, Missouri, data center campus, creating 400 full-time jobs, thousands of construction roles and generating hundreds of millions in property tax revenue over 25 years. The project includes $7 million in community contributions for emergency dispatch, fairground upgrades and STEM education grants.
1. $10B Investment and Job Creation
Amazon announced a $10 billion investment to construct a data center campus in Montgomery County, Missouri. The project will create approximately 400 full-time positions and thousands of construction roles, supporting cloud services for remote work, video streaming, hospital records and financial transactions.
2. Community Contributions and Infrastructure Support
As part of the initiative, Amazon pledged more than $7 million in community contributions, including $3 million for emergency dispatch services, over $1 million to enhance the Montgomery County Fairgrounds gathering space and $3 million for STEM education and local nonprofit programs. Under an agreement with Ameren Missouri, Amazon will bear the full cost of grid connection without affecting existing customers’ rates, and will build and donate water supply lines to the local water district.
3. Strategic Expansion of AWS Footprint
This project builds on Amazon’s existing Missouri presence, which spans fulfillment centers, delivery stations and Whole Foods Market locations employing over 10,000 workers in the state. It also follows a separate $10 billion AWS infrastructure expansion announced last year in North Carolina, reinforcing Amazon’s strategy to grow its cloud footprint and support regional economic development.
