GAAP net income was USD 71 million, or USD 0.11 per diluted share; adjusted net income was USD 99 million, or USD 0.15 per share.
Fuel expense rose more than USD 2.2 billion, up 83% year over year; higher fares offset nearly 50% of the increase.
Third-quarter and full-year outlook
Third-quarter guidance calls for revenue growth of 16% to 19% year over year, with average fuel price about USD 3.75 per gallon.
Third-quarter adjusted EPS is seen at a loss of USD 0.70 to a loss of USD 0.10; full-year adjusted EPS forecast is a loss of USD 0.65 to profit of USD 0.65.
