American Resources Procures First Battery Shredding Line for LFP Recycling Expansion
AREC•American Resources Corp’s subsidiary Electrified Materials has procured its first lithium-ion battery shredding line to expand LFP recycling feedstock for its ReElement refining platform. The move positions the company to produce high-purity lithium carbonate from LFP black mass and monetize the full value stream.
1. Subsidiary Procures Battery Shredding Line
Electrified Materials Corporation, 100% owned by American Resources, has procured its first lithium-ion battery shredding line to kickstart LFP recycling. The unit will aggregate and process spent LFP batteries into black mass for downstream refining on the ReElement platform.
2. Strategic Focus on LFP Chemistry
Electrified Materials chose LFP over NMC due to lower market competition and absence of cobalt and nickel, enabling full-stream economics. Its technology can extract copper, aluminum, ferrous materials and produce high-purity lithium feedstock, unlike many recyclers that stop at intermediate products.
3. Integration with ReElement Platform
The processed black mass will supply feedstock to American Resources’ ReElement refining division to produce high-purity lithium carbonate. The company plans to monetize through lower tolling fees for battery customers while sharing in lithium carbonate output economics.
