Artelo Shows Only Three Metabolites and 7% Exposure in ART26.12 Trial
ARTL•Artelo found only three metabolites in healthy volunteers after a 900 mg oral dose of ART26.12, with total metabolite exposure around 7% of drug-related material. The main metabolite, ~5% of exposure, matched ART26.12’s activity and all metabolites were pre-qualified in toxicology studies, suggesting a low-risk profile.
1. Conference Presentation
Artelo’s lead medicinal chemist delivered an oral presentation at the 7th RSC-BMCS/DMDG conference in London, showcasing early human metabolite identification and profiling data for ART26.12 from the completed Single Ascending Dose study.
2. Human Metabolite Profile
Following a single 900 mg oral dose in healthy volunteers, only three metabolites were detected, representing approximately 7% of total drug-related exposure. The primary metabolite accounted for roughly 5% of exposure and demonstrated biological activity comparable to the parent compound.
3. Development Implications
All identified metabolites were previously observed in nonclinical toxicology species and posed no safety concerns. This low-risk metabolite profile, along with favorable safety and pharmacokinetic data, is expected to streamline future clinical development and reduce program risk.
