ASML's strong orders ease fears AI spending boom is running out of steam
ASML•ASML said customers are seeking orders for chipmaking tools as far out as 2029 and 2030, and that it expects 2026 sales of €44 billion to €45 billion. Third-quarter net profit was €4.96 billion on sales of €11.7 billion.
1. Orders extend into 2030
ASML said customers are already showing strong interest in ordering its advanced chipmaking tools for 2029 and sometimes 2030, easing concerns that AI-related spending is losing momentum. CEO Christophe Fouquet said ASML was seeing “a lot of order intake for 2028” as well.
2. Higher sales outlook
ASML reported third-quarter net profit of €4.96 billion on net sales of €11.7 billion and forecast fourth-quarter sales of €14.2 billion to €15.2 billion. It raised its full-year sales outlook from at least €43 billion to €44 billion–€45 billion.
3. Capacity and pricing
ASML said its previously announced plans to increase capacity by 30% in 2027 and another 30% in 2028 would not be enough. It plans to upgrade existing tools, sell higher-throughput versions and increase prices starting in 2027, with the full effect visible from 2028.
