AstraZeneca's Sone-Ve cuts death risk 42% in advanced gastric cancer trial
AZN•AstraZeneca said its investigational sonesitatug vedotin cut death risk by 42% versus investigator-selected treatment in a Phase III trial for previously treated CLDN18.2-positive advanced gastric cancer. Progression-free survival did not reach statistical significance.
1. Trial results
Sonesitatug vedotin improved overall survival versus investigator-selected treatment in the Phase III CLARITY-Gastric01 trial, with the headline reporting a 42% reduction in death risk. Survival benefits extended across CLDN18.2 expression levels, while independently assessed progression-free survival did not reach statistical significance. Severe treatment-related adverse events were less frequent with the drug, and no new safety signals were identified.
2. Presentation planned
AstraZeneca said it would present the results at the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress 2026 in Madrid.
