Bipartisan majority of Americans blame Trump policies for rising costs
SPY•A Reuters/Ipsos poll found 78% of Americans say the White House shares blame for rising costs, while 57% of Republicans said living costs are rising faster than their earnings. The poll surveyed 4,506 U.S. adults and had a 2-percentage-point margin of error overall.
1. Costs outpace earnings
The poll found that 78% of Americans blame President Donald Trump's policies for rising prices outpacing earnings. Fifty-seven percent of Republicans said costs have grown faster than their paychecks, and two-thirds of respondents said living costs were rising faster than earnings.
2. Views on the economy
About one in four Republicans disapproved of Trump's handling of the economy, compared with 63% of independents and 92% of Democrats. On inflation, 68% of all respondents and 40% of Republicans were dissatisfied. The poll found 54% said the cost of living had increased a lot in the past year.

The nationwide online poll gathered responses from 4,506 U.S. adults over six days and had a 2-percentage-point margin of error overall, and 3 points for Republicans, Democrats and independents. It found 63% were eating out less often and 56% were spending less on entertainment or streaming; smaller shares said they were driving less or falling behind on bills.
