1. Fuel prices decline
Canadian retail gasoline prices fell 6.2 cents per litre to 178.1 cents in October as seasonal demand softened. Refining margins narrowed 15.3 cents per litre, partly offset by a 9.2-cent increase in the crude oil component.
2. Diesel remains elevated
Retail diesel prices declined 1.2 cents per litre to 259.5 cents, near September’s record high, and remained 102.5 cents higher year over year. Elevated refining margins and crude costs contributed to the increase; North American distillate supplies ended October at multi-decade lows as wars constrained global production.
