Canadian National Adds Five Rail-Ready Sites Totaling 2,245 Acres and Re-Certifies Six
Canadian National Railway has added five industrial sites totaling 2,245 acres in Michigan, Illinois, Mississippi and Louisiana to its Certified Rail-Ready Sites program and re-certified six US sites through the REDI Sites framework. The initiative accelerates project timelines by pre-qualifying rail-served locations with zoning, utility and infrastructure assessments.
1. Program Expansion
Canadian National Railway expanded its Certified Rail-Ready Sites program by adding five new industrial development sites and re-certifying six existing US locations, strengthening its value proposition to manufacturers and logistics investors.
2. New and Re-Certified Site Details
The five new sites include Michigan AMD (1,400 acres), Buick City in Burton, MI (55 acres), Carbondale, IL (100 acres), Leatherman in DeSoto County, MS (190 acres), and Willow Glen, LA (500 acres). The six re-certified sites range from 46 to 420 acres across Kentucky, Mississippi, Illinois, Michigan and Tennessee.
3. REDI Certification Partnership
Through its partnership with the Site Selectors Guild’s REDI Sites program, CN applies rigorous standards—covering zoning, environmental reviews, utility availability and transportation infrastructure—to pre-qualify these rail-served locations, reducing development risk and speeding project execution.
