Capital One posted Q2 net income of $3 billion, or $4.73 per diluted share.
Revenue rose to $15.85 billion, while net interest margin widened 14 basis points from Q1 to 8.01%.
Credit losses, capital and balance sheet
Provision for credit losses totaled $3 billion, including a $662 million allowance release; allowance coverage ratio fell to 5.02% at June 30.
Common equity Tier 1 ratio slipped to 13.7% at June 30, while it repurchased 14 million shares for $2.7 billion.
Loans held for investment increased 2% quarter-on-quarter to $457.2 billion, while total deposits dipped 1% to $484.3 billion.
