CBOT wheat rises on corn market strength, Ukraine attacks on Russian grain port
WEAT•Wheat futures end higher on corn strength and Ukraine attack concerns
Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures ended higher on Wednesday, extending earlier session gains as spillover strength from the corn market following a U.S. Department of Agriculture report helped boost prices, market analysts said.
- Ukraine attacked grain terminals in the major Russian wheat export port of Novorossiysk, raising fears of disruption of supplies to world markets. Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter.
- Two of Russia's biggest grain terminals at Novorossiysk suspended operations following the overnight Ukrainian drone strikes, industry sources told Reuters.
- CBOT benchmark wheat contract Wv1 settled up 22-1/2 cents at $6.52-3/4 a bushel.
- CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU26 ended up 21-1/2 cents at $7.20-3/4 a bushel.
- K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU26 closed up 13-3/4 cents at $6.73 a bushel.
