Century Communities Reports Revenue and Backlog Declines While Launching $500s and Mid-$200s Communities

CCSCCS

Century Communities reported revenue, profit, backlog declines as high mortgage rates and falling home prices pressured results. It opened Willow Glenn in Yelm, WA with two-story homes from the $500s (1,797–2,745 sq ft) and unveiled Crawford Ridge in Albertville, AL featuring homes from the mid-$200s up to 1,812 sq ft.

1. Near-Term Results Under Pressure but Valuation Appealing

Century Communities reported a year-over-year revenue decline of approximately 15% in its most recent quarter, driven by affordability challenges, elevated mortgage rates and a 10% drop in average selling prices. Net income fell by roughly 30% over the same period, and total backlog decreased by about 20% as cancellations rose. Despite these headwinds, CCS is trading at an enterprise value to EBITDA multiple near 6.0x, below the 8.0x average of its large-cap homebuilding peers and its own historical 7.0x median. The company closed 2,400 homes during the quarter and ended with land commitments for more than 8,500 lots, underlining its capacity to ramp production when demand improves.

2. Grand Opening of Willow Glenn Community in Yelm, Washington

Century Communities will host a ribbon-cutting on January 9 and a Grand Opening weekend on January 10–11 for its Willow Glenn development in Yelm, WA. The community features contemporary two-story homes priced from the low $500,000s, offering 3–5 bedrooms, 2.25–3 bathrooms and 1,797–2,745 square feet of living space. Each home includes quartz countertops, a smart-home package and a two-bay garage, with community amenities such as a playground and panoramic views of Mount Rainier. Management expects initial sales velocity to reach 15–20 homes per month given strong online-buying adoption and limited nearby inventory.

3. Expansion into Albertville, Alabama with Crawford Ridge

Century Complete, CCS’s value-oriented brand, is launching Crawford Ridge in Albertville, AL, offering modern single-family homes from the mid $200,000s. The project includes single- and two-story floor plans up to 1,812 square feet with 3–4 bedrooms, 2–3 baths and two-car garages. Standard features encompass stainless-steel appliances, quartz countertops and luxury vinyl plank flooring. The community sits near U.S. 431 and Highway 75, within walking distance of Sand Mountain Park & Amphitheater and Albertville’s downtown. Management anticipates delivering 75 homes in year one, leveraging its industry-first online homebuying platform to streamline closings.
