Shares of global mining giants Rio Tinto and BHP Group decline 3.8% and 4.2%, respectively.
Copper miners Southern Copper and Freeport-McMoRan slide 6.5% and about 8%, respectively.
Canada's Hudbay Minerals loses 6.2%, Ero Copper is down 5.6% and Teck Resources slumps 7.7%.
Copper prices retreat after tariff report
Benchmark three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange slip 3.1% to $14,312 a metric ton, after touching a record high of $14,875 earlier in the session.
Prices fall after Reuters reports the White House is yet to decide on refined copper tariffs as officials assess concerns that higher prices could raise manufacturing costs.
