CVS expands GLP-1 support with $50 Medicare copay and $49 virtual visits
CVS•Starting July 1, 2026, CVS will charge eligible Medicare members $50 monthly for GLP-1 medications under the CMS Bridge program. MinuteClinic launches $49 virtual GLP-1 prescribing visits in 47 states plus D.C., with pharmacist guidance and OTC side-effect products at 9,000 CVS pharmacies for adherence support.
1. Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program
Starting July 1, 2026, CVS Pharmacy will participate in the CMS Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program through December 31, 2027. Eligible Medicare beneficiaries will pay a $50 monthly copay for qualifying GLP-1 therapies, with additional cost savings available via third-party prescription discount cards and manufacturer coupons.
2. MinuteClinic Virtual Weight-Management Offering
MinuteClinic now offers $49 virtual visits in 47 states and Washington, D.C., connecting adults with licensed clinicians to evaluate weight and metabolic health and prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1 medications. Follow-ups for dose adjustments, side-effect support and ongoing monitoring are available without recurring membership fees.
3. Pharmacist-Led Support and OTC Solutions
Over 9,000 CVS Pharmacy locations will feature personalized pharmacist guidance to help patients manage dosing and side effects, complemented by curated CVS brand and national OTC products for nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, hydration, protein intake and nutrition support.
