Designer Brands Names Sheamus Toal CFO After January Layoffs
Designer Brands Inc. named Sheamus Toal as principal financial officer and CFO Wednesday, following Jared Poff’s October departure to Family Dollar. Toal, formerly CFO and CEO of New York & Co. and COO and CFO at The Children’s Place, joins after January layoffs to simplify the organization.

Designer Brands Inc. has appointed Sheamus Toal as executive vice president, principal financial officer and CFO, replacing Jared Poff after his October move to Family Dollar. Toal joined the company on Wednesday to oversee financial planning, reporting and capital allocation.
2. Toal’s Background
Sheamus Toal previously served as chief operating officer and CFO at The Children’s Place and held positions as CFO and CEO at New York & Co., where he led financial turnaround initiatives and operational integrations.
3. Layoffs and Restructuring
The CFO transition follows a round of layoffs at the end of January, part of DBI’s efforts to simplify its organizational structure, improve decision-making speed and strengthen accountability across its business.
