Eni CCUS installs Douglas platform for Liverpool Bay carbon storage project in UK
E•Eni completed installation of the Douglas CCS platform for the Liverpool Bay CCS network, which is about 50% complete. The project supports more than 2,000 construction jobs and is expected to create 200–300 long-term roles over more than 25 years.
1. Platform installation complete
Eni announced completion of the Douglas CCS platform installation for Liverpool Bay CCS, a CO2 transport and storage backbone for the UK’s HyNet cluster. The platform will take CO2 from industrial sites in northwest England and north Wales, routing it through repurposed pipelines to depleted gas reservoirs. Eni described it as the world’s first purpose-built offshore platform dedicated to industrial carbon capture and storage.
2. Project progress and jobs
The Liverpool Bay CCS network is about 50% complete, with about 60% of project spending flowing through UK supply chains. Eni said the project supports more than 2,000 construction jobs and 200–300 long-term roles over more than 25 years.
