Evommune gains after eczema drug meets mid-stage trial goal
EVMN•Evommune said its experimental drug EVO301 met the main goal in a mid-stage trial of 70 adults with moderate-to-severe eczema. Patients had a 55% average reduction in eczema severity and extent after 12 weeks, versus 22% with placebo.
1. Trial results
Evommune said patients treated with EVO301 had a 55% average reduction in eczema severity and extent after 12 weeks, compared with 22% for placebo. About 29% of patients receiving the drug achieved at least a 75% improvement, versus 9% on placebo. The drug was given twice, at the start of the trial and after four weeks, and effects continued to improve for eight weeks after the final dose.
2. Safety findings
Treatment-related side effects were reported in 10.4% of EVO301 patients and 13.6% of placebo patients. No treatment-related serious or severe side effects were reported.
