FMC and Corteva Ink $200M, 10-Year Deal for Dual-Action Rimisoxafen Herbicide
FMC•FMC and Corteva signed a co-exclusive 10-year supply and license agreement to expand FMC’s rimisoxafen dual-action herbicide to North and South American corn and soybean markets, with Corteva making a $200 million initial prepurchase. The technology targets resistant Amaranthus weeds, with first commercial sales expected by decade’s end.
1. Strategic Supply and License Agreement
FMC Corporation granted Corteva a co-exclusive license to supply and commercialize rimisoxafen in corn and soybean markets across North and South America under a decade-long agreement. FMC retains ownership of the active ingredient and will supply Corteva with the technical product while both companies develop exclusive premix formulations for their respective portfolios.
2. Innovative Dual-Action Technology
Rimisoxafen offers a dual mode of action, creating a higher resistance barrier against broadleaf weeds such as Amaranthus species, palmer amaranth and waterhemp. The Herbicide Resistance Action Committee classified rimisoxafen as the industry's first dual mode herbicide, enhancing tools for growers facing multi-class resistant weeds that threaten crop productivity.
3. Financial and Market Impact
Corteva committed an initial $200 million prepurchase for product supply, providing FMC with near-term revenue and supporting a rapid rollout. First commercial sales are anticipated by the end of the decade, pending regulatory approvals, positioning both companies to capture share in the growing resistant-weed management market.
