Ford will renovate 2.1 million-square-foot Product Development Center into World Headquarters South, expanding total complex to 3.3 million square feet by early 2029 and housing 10,000–11,000 employees. Retaining the existing structure delivers 45–50% cost savings versus new construction and preserves a 60,000-square-foot vehicle testing garage.

1. HQ South Renovation Plan

Ford is converting part of its existing Product Development Center into World Headquarters South, connecting it to the 2.1-million-square-foot new headquarters by a skywalk. The section is slated for completion in 2027 with the full complex finished by early 2029, increasing total space to 3.3 million square feet.

2. Cost Savings and Structural Preservation

Retaining and gut-renovating the Product Development Center delivers 45–50% savings over ground-up construction and preserves a 60,000-square-foot vehicle testing garage. The project will add skylights, open workspaces and leverage the existing structure to minimize capital outlay.

3. Employee Consolidation and Amenities

The expanded headquarters will accommodate 10,000–11,000 employees, including executives, product developers and the Ford Racing team. Amenities include seven chef-designed restaurants, outdoor workspaces, a fitness center and parking for over 12,000 vehicles across new and existing garages.

4. Strategic Collaboration Boost

Skywalk connections will place product teams closer to executives and racing engineers to accelerate decision-making and foster innovation. This consolidation is expected to drive operational efficiencies and faster integration of track-derived insights into consumer vehicle development.
