Garmin Unveils LiveScope 2 Sonar Series with 20% Better Resolution, $2,200 MSRP
GRMN•Garmin launched the LiveScope 2 Series with three new transducers offering 20% higher resolution, 50% more detail at close range and sonar reach to 250 feet. Direct-to-display installation removes black boxes and retail pricing of $1,999.99–$2,199.99 positions the series to lift marine revenue and product margins.
1. LiveScope 2 Technical Improvements
LiveScope 2 Series builds on Garmin’s award-winning sonar with three transducers: LVS44 delivers 20% more resolution and 25% more range to 250 feet, LVS42HD offers 50% more detail at close range to 125 feet, and the ice-fishing model includes a flexible cold-water cable and integrated mounting kit.
2. Simplified Installation and Integration
Each LiveScope 2 transducer connects directly to compatible Garmin multifunction displays and power sources, eliminating the need for an external black box. Integrated water and temperature sensors automatically disable sonar when lifted out of water and provide accurate readings, while included mounts support Forward, Down and Perspective modes without tools.
3. Pricing and Market Impact
With suggested retail prices from $1,999.99 to $2,199.99, LiveScope 2 Series commands a premium over previous models. Enhanced image clarity, broader coverage and streamlined setup are expected to boost average selling prices, driving higher revenue and improved margins in Garmin’s marine electronics segment.
