1. Google Pay Launch in Saudi Arabia
Google has integrated Mastercard support into Google Pay for Saudi Arabia, enabling Mastercard cardholders to make contactless in-store and online transactions via NFC. The service employs tokenisation with device-specific tokens and dynamic security codes to secure payments, aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 push for a digital, cashless economy.
2. AI Tool Partnership with Sea Ltd
Google and Sea Ltd have entered a strategic partnership to co-develop AI agentic shopping prototypes on Shopee, where the platform holds a 52% Southeast Asia market share. The collaboration also covers AI-driven solutions to streamline and enhance game development at Sea’s Garena unit, aiming to commercialize advanced AI beyond simple query responses.
