GOOGGOOG

Google has completed its acquisition of cloud security firm Wiz for US$32 billion, marking its largest purchase in the cloud security sector. The deal expands Google Cloud’s security portfolio, integrating Wiz’s threat detection technology to bolster enterprise offerings and compete more directly with AWS and Azure.

1. Acquisition Completion

Google completed its purchase of Wiz on March 12 for US$32 billion in cash and stock, marking one of its largest cloud security deals to date. The transaction closed following regulatory approvals and will integrate Wiz’s workforce of over 1,200 employees into Google Cloud.

2. Strategic Rationale

Wiz offers a cloud-native security platform that provides real-time threat detection, vulnerability management and compliance across multi-cloud environments. Adding this technology strengthens Google Cloud’s security suite, enhances its appeal to enterprise clients and narrows the competitive gap with AWS and Microsoft Azure.
