Google joins 5MW/50MWh iron flow storage pilot in Arizona

Google partners with ESS Tech and Salt River Project to deploy a five-megawatt, 50-megawatt-hour iron flow Energy Base system at SRP’s Copper Crossing Energy and Research Center in Florence, Arizona. The pilot will validate ESS Tech’s utility-scale, non-lithium long-duration storage platform for future renewable integration.

The pilot features a five-megawatt power output paired with 50 megawatt-hours of storage, deploying ESS Tech’s iron flow Energy Base non-lithium platform designed for long-duration utility-scale applications.
