1. $60M per year Reddit deal to train Gemini AI
In early 2024, Google agreed to pay Reddit about $60 million annually under a multi-year content licensing agreement to train its Gemini AI models. This deal contributes to Reddit’s disclosed $203 million aggregate licensing portfolio and arrives as the global AI training dataset market grew to $3.59 billion in 2025 with projections to reach $4.44 billion in 2026.
2. YouTube launches automatic AI-generated video labels
YouTube has begun automatically labeling videos generated or significantly altered by AI, applying on-screen badges without requiring creator input. This update aims to improve transparency across its two-billion-user platform and could help Google address regulatory scrutiny over manipulated media and deepfake content.
