Ormat Technologies and NV Energy have agreed on a long-term power purchase agreement to deliver 150 megawatts of new geothermal capacity to Google’s data centers in Nevada. The projects, set for commissioning between 2028 and 2030, will utilize a scalable framework that covers all electric service costs.

The clean-firm nature of geothermal power ensures continuous, carbon-free electricity without intermittency, aligning with Google’s sustainability targets and supporting its growing AI infrastructure. This agreement allows Google to lock in stable energy costs while reducing reliance on variable renewables.

Geothermal is emerging as a pivotal solution for large-scale energy consumers facing increasing power demand driven by AI and data processing workloads.
