1. Data Center Development

Google will build its first Austrian data center in Kronstorf, creating approximately 100 direct jobs and extending its digital infrastructure footprint in Europe. The facility is designed to handle rising demand for digital services and AI operations and represents a strategic expansion in the Alps region.

2. Sustainability Measures

The project includes a dedicated fund to improve water quality in the Enns river, in partnership with the Upper Austrian Fisheries Association. The design also incorporates off-site heat recovery systems to contribute to the regional energy transition and reduce carbon emissions.

3. Workforce Training Partnership

Google has launched a skills partnership with the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria to develop local talent, complementing its existing training programs. These efforts have already reached more than 140,000 people in Austria and aim to support long-term workforce development in digital technologies.

4. Strategic Infrastructure Expansion

This development is part of Google’s broader European infrastructure investments aimed at strengthening the continent’s competitiveness in AI and digital technology. It follows recent multi-billion-dollar projects in Singapore and a planned $15 billion AI hub in India, reflecting a global push to enhance research, innovation and services.
