Guardian Metal Secures Pilot Partnership for 250–400 Tonnes U.S. Tungsten Supply
GMTL•Guardian Metal signed a strategic partnership with Montana Mining Association, Montana Technological University and the Army Research Laboratory to pilot U.S.-based tungsten mining and processing for defense applications. The program will ship 250–400 tonnes of legacy ore from the Tempiute project to Montana for trial processing by late summer 2026.
1. Partnership and Objectives
Guardian Metal has entered into a strategic partnership with the Montana Mining Association, Montana Technological University and the Army Research Laboratory to develop a U.S.-based tungsten mining and recovery pilot program focused on domestic defense applications.
2. Ore Supply and Processing Timeline
Under the agreement, Guardian Metal will supply approximately 250–400 tonnes of stockpiled legacy ore from its Tempiute project in Nevada, with first shipments scheduled for late summer 2026 to a processing facility in Philipsburg, Montana, pending completion of metallurgical test work.
3. Strategic and Defense Impact
The pilot aims to upscale historical tailings and legacy ore into tungsten metal powder, reducing reliance on foreign supply chains and bolstering national defense security while advancing Guardian Metal's valuation through progress toward a domestic tungsten supply chain.
