1. MEDITECH Expanse EHR Implementation at HCA Healthcare
HCA Healthcare has successfully gone live with the first large-scale wave of its enterprise-wide MEDITECH Expanse electronic health record system at 43 of its hospitals. This cloud-based, mobile-friendly platform offers personalized clinician workflows, embedded decision support and AI capabilities aimed at enhancing patient safety, care quality and operational efficiency. As part of a multi-year agreement extending over additional waves of roll-outs, Expanse will integrate de-identified data from HCA’s 44 million annual patient encounters across 191 hospitals and more than 2,500 sites in 20 states and the U.K. HCA’s vice president and chief health information officer, Jake O’Shea, emphasized that this deployment advances the system’s goal of seamless data integration and paves the way for future digital and AI innovations. MEDITECH’s executive vice president Helen Waters noted the 30-year partnership foundation and hailed the 43-facility milestone as evidence of deep organizational collaboration. HCA plans to continue expanding Expanse in the coming months and collaborate with technology partners to develop clinician-trusted AI solutions that return valuable time to the bedside and improve patient experience.
