Horizon Aircraft’s Cavorite X7 Offers US$0.97 Seat-Mile Costs, 75% Savings
Horizon Aircraft's Cavorite X7 hybrid-electric VTOL has a verified projected operating cost of US$0.97 per available seat mile, up to 75% below conventional helicopter costs. The aircraft targets 450 km/h cruise speeds, 680 kg payload capacity and IFR/FIKI certification, halving response times for critical missions.
1. Cost Efficiency Verification
Horizon Aircraft announced that an independent audit firm verified the Cavorite X7’s projected operating cost of US$0.97 per available seat mile, representing up to 75% savings compared to conventional helicopters on a cost per available seat mile basis.
2. Performance and Design Features
The X7 employs a hybrid-electric architecture with a patented fan-in-wing design, flying most missions in fixed-wing cruise at up to 450 km/h, carrying payloads of up to 680 kg, and recharging batteries in-flight to minimize downtime and maintenance complexity.
3. Certification and Market Outlook
The aircraft is targeting Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI) certification for all-weather operations and aims to halve response times for medevac, disaster relief and defense missions, with plans to scale production for regional operators once testing completes.
