IonQ, EPB launch Tennessee Quantum Communications Research Center with $15 million commitment
IONQ•Project to test quantum networking applications
The center will embed a commercial quantum memory unit in an operational communications network to support long-distance quantum networking.
EPB will provide the network test bed and serve as the primary commercialization partner, targeting quantum communications applications for public and private users.
The project is expected to support about two dozen jobs, with economic impact projected at two to three times the $15 million investment.
IonQ and EPB launch research center in Chattanooga
IonQ entered a partnership with EPB to launch the Tennessee Quantum Communications Research Center in Chattanooga.
IonQ committed $15 million over five years to fund the R&D lab, staffed by its scientists and connected to EPB’s live fiber network.
