IperionX titanium fasteners deliver 20% higher yield torque, 15% stronger tensile strength
IPX•IperionX’s Ti-6Al-4V fasteners achieved yield torque of 563-615 ft-lbf in DEVCOM GVSC tests, roughly 20% above high-strength SAE Grade 8 steel’s 480-502 ft-lbf. Independent ASTM tensile trials recorded 135-137 ksi yield strength and 149-152 ksi ultimate strength, exceeding aerospace-grade titanium benchmarks by about 15%.
1. DEVCOM GVSC Torque-to-Yield Results
DEVCOM GVSC testing on IperionX Ti-6Al-4V fasteners sized 3/4-10 x 3.0 inches recorded yield torque between 563 and 615 ft-lbf, compared with 480-502 ft-lbf for SAE Grade 8 steel. Three of five 3/8-16 x 1.0-inch fasteners did not yield at initial test limits, prompting extended torque range analysis.
2. Independent Tensile Strength Validation
ASTM F606/F606M-25a tensile tests on 3/4-10 x 3.0-inch fasteners measured yield strengths of 135-137 ksi and ultimate tensile strengths of 149-152 ksi, surpassing the 120-130 ksi yield and 130 ksi ultimate standards for Grade 5 aerospace titanium fasteners by roughly 15%.
3. Commercial and Defense Supply Chain Impact
These results validate IperionX’s patented titanium manufacturing technologies and support the development of a fully domestic titanium supply chain for defense, aerospace, marine and industrial markets that demand lightweighting, corrosion resistance and high-strength performance.
