Araqchi received the US response through Qatari mediators in Doha on Tuesday, an official briefed on the talks said. The mediators had met Araqchi and his team on Monday while returning from the United States.
2. Sequencing remains disputed
The plan outlines seven days of trust-building aimed at returning Washington and Tehran to an enhanced version of a June memorandum of understanding, including concrete steps on Iran’s nuclear programme. The official said the disagreement concerns the sequencing of steps rather than the plan’s components. Iran previously said the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened and normal maritime passage restored if necessary conditions were met; US President Donald Trump rejected that proposal.
