Itron has added support in its UtilityIQ Application Suite for Cellular 500G gas and 500W water modules on its Gen6 platform, integrating with existing Gen5 mesh networks for multi-transport interoperability. These modules extend coverage over cellular networks, cut infrastructure costs and enhance leak detection to curb 19.5% water losses.

Itron has expanded its UtilityIQ Application Suite to support its Cellular 500G and 500W modules, which run on the company’s Gen6 network platform. This integration extends the headend to gas and water meters, leveraging multi-transport, multi-vendor interoperability alongside existing Gen5 mesh networks.

2. Operational and Environmental Benefits

The new modules deliver direct cellular connectivity, extending coverage into rural and hard-to-reach areas while offering utilities flexible deployment options—100% cellular, pure mesh or hybrid. They enable advanced metering infrastructure with simplified setups, reduced infrastructure costs and enhanced leak detection—critical to addressing 19.5% U.S. water losses and methane pipeline emissions.

3. Availability and Integration

Itron’s Cellular 500G and 500W modules are available now in the United States through select cellular carriers, offering utilities a future-ready platform that integrates seamlessly with existing Itron systems and meter vendors.
